Ocala Breeder Sales Company Project Complete

Andrews Bowen have recently completed the conversion of Ocala Breeders’ Sale Company’s  one-mile dirt racetrack to our all-weather SAFETRACK surface.  Eddie Woods a member of the OBS board of directors, a consignor and owner of Eddie Woods Training Center near Ocala, Florida was the first horses to have horses work over the new track of the 16th of November Eddie worked about  half a dozen of his unraced 2-year-olds on the surface. He said of the new surface;“My horses appeared to like it a lot, they bounced right across like they have done on other synthetic surfaces” The installation of the multimillion-dollar surface, began last summer and was completed well ahead of next year’s juvenile sale season and the OBS Day of Champions slated for Feb. 11, 2008.OBS have recently announced that Darley will be sponsoring the 2008 OBS Day of Champions.  The races will be supplemented with a combination of increased purses and seasons to three of Darley’s stallions, and will mark the debut of OBS’ new Safetrack all-weather surface. The five-race card is scheduled for Monday, February 11, the day before the OBS Sale of Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training. “We are delighted to welcome Darley’s participation in our Day of Champions,” said OBS president Tom Chiota. “It will expand the relationship we enjoy with them and focus attention on the Florida thoroughbred industry.”

Darley Chief Operating Officer Dan Pride echoed that sentiment, saying, “Darley is thrilled to partner with OBS for their day of racing. The Ocala market continues to play a hugely important role in the thoroughbred industry and we are proud to be involved.”
